My sister and brother-in-law hosted this year's holiday. I love Thanksgiving since the whole focus of this holiday is food - my favorite subject.
My brother-in-law is a fabulous chef who loves to cook and prepares the whole meal. He smoked a turkey, deep-fried one (seen right) and baked a honey ham. Many delicious side dishes accompanied these main courses, including my favorite: sausage dressing with loads of gravy.
I get off so easy. All I had to do was show up with dessert. Which I delivered, courtesy of Breadwinners. They make the most heavenly whipped cream. The homemade kind from scratch with real cream so it's thick and sweet. Heaven.
My Uncle and Aunt live in New Zealand, so we Skyped them (see left) for a visit to make them feel like they were a part of the day. It would be weird to live in a country that didn't even celebrate your holidays.
Skype is a great invention. So cool to talk to someone who's halfway around the world (it was 24 hours later there - Friday afternoon - when we called him) and see them in real time - like they were across the street.
After a late lunch and many, many cocktails, we all settled in to watch the Dallas Cowboys kick some boo-tay! It was a relaxed, fun holiday.
I am always thankful to have a loving family to spend the holiday with. And I am always thankful when it's over.
Now... time to hit the sales!
