"Diary of a Wimpy Kid" (and it's subsequent sequels) is a favorite series of Jackson's. Seeing as he's about to enter Middle School next year, he can relate to the main character: Middle school student Greg Heffley.The book takes readers through an academic year's worth of drama. Greg's mother forces him to keep a diary, and in it he loosely recounts each day's events, interspersed with his comic illustrations.
The author, Jeff Kinney, ably skewers familiar aspects of junior high life, from dealing with the mysteries of what makes someone popular to the trauma of a "wrestling unit" in gym class.
The book has just been made into a movie and the author was in town this past Sunday. My BFF, Elise, got me and Little Man into a VIP book signing and he got to meet the author, Jeff Kinney, and chat with him about his favorite book and what he liked about the character.
