Drama, intrigue, mystery, fashion, cocktails... this event has all of the elements necessary to make it a night to remember!
“FIRST NIGHT”
WHEN? Friday, October 21, 2011
6:00 p.m. Red Carpet Arrival and Reception
7:30 p.m. Opera Performance, Lucia Di Lammermoor with a celebration dinner following the performance created by Wolfgang Puck Catering
WHERE? Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House
Red Carpet Co-Chairs Rhonda Sargent Chambers and Marisa Huckin anticipate a particularly glittering grand entrance featuring, not only a host of local notables and celebrities, but internationally acclaimed fashion designers who have created special designs for five ladies of fashion and philanthropy—leaving the first of several, significant “footprints” on these sumptuous, red-carpet celebrations!
This event will focus on the seductive power of art married to contemporary design in each of the four mainstage operas (as well as the thrilling, supernaturally-charged chamber opera) that comprise the company’s third season in the Winspear Opera House: Lucia di Lammermoor, Tristan & Isolde, La traviata and The Magic Flute.
“FIRST NIGHT, sponsored by Deloitte, will celebrate the operas of the 55th Dallas Opera Season in numerous ways,” explains Chair Kaki Hopkins. “The red-carpet extravaganza will feature exquisite creations by Dallas’ top designers. Each will design a glorious gown inspired by one of the operas of the season—and by the divas who have captured our imaginations! Be there to applaud their work, and to enjoy every moment of this ‘Tragic Obsessions’ fashion show.”
--> Tickets for FIRST NIGHT begin at $500 per person. For additional information on packages and options, contact Special Events Manager Morgan Vaughn at morgan.vaughn@dallasopera.org.
