contributed by Sevi Ware
On Saturday, May 16, 2015, Flight Young Professionals Organization gathered for an evening of celebration with their 2015 Gala – Let Your Dreams Take Flight. Hosted at the historical Hall of State in Fair Park, this inaugural gala captured the essences of giving back to their members after a full year of serving Vogel Alcove. Upon arrival, guests were invited to enjoy a cocktail reception with Minibar along with showing their playful sides with A&K Photobooths to commemorate the evening’s festivities. Flight YPO Presidents, Mary Lyons and Chrystal Morgan, praised the hard work and dedication of a successful first full year as an organization. They illuminated that this gala was a celebration of their members’ success and each member played a huge role that couldn’t have happened without them. Flight’s first year encompassed building a playground, organizing supplies, creating traditions, and raising more than $60,000 for Vogel Alcove. With more than 100 members and growing, Flight has a collaborative role in doing their part to end the cycle of homelessness in Dallas. Honoring the 2014-2015 Board Member and General Member of the year, Lauren Halsey and Josh Webb, followed this rousing dedication, for all of the work they contributed during the year.

Having been named one of the top three young professional organizations by CultureMap Dallas, the members are an exemplary example of Dallas’ rising stars. Incoming Flight President, Chad Bruce effortlessly stepped right into the role as he followed up Lyons and Morgan’s speech with a message of thanks and call to action. Bruce emphasized that the mission of Vogel Alcove and Flight YPO was more imperative now more than ever. Lofty goals were set the first year and the community of leaders Flight consists of easily accomplished them, but they are poised to go to the next level. Bruce challenged the room of over 250 guests to raise $10,000 that evening with the gala raffle by supporting and furthering the mission of Flight YPO.
Throughout dinner, Goga and his live band entertained the crowd with mellow/classical sounds and reminded the over 250 guests that raffle tickets were available for purchase, but the real party started after Chad Bruce’s call to action. Goga blasted the melodies and the guests had an opportunity to dance their hearts out. From today’s pop hits, Top 40, and a few international tunes – Goga had the crowd up and down the dance floor enjoying themselves. The evening concluded with Flight surpassing the evening’s goal of raising $10,000 for their benefiting organization Vogel Alcove and a few happy raffle winners. Upon this announcement, Flight YPO solidified with confidence that they are indeed poised at making their 2015-2016 year even better!
