Beer! Brauts! Polka! For nearly three decades, the most authentic Oktoberfest celebration outside of Munich has been held in Addison. This year, over 70,000 fans will come together September 17-20, 2015 to share a love of polka, German food and, of course, the same Paulaner Bier that will be served at Bavaria’s favorite festival. Named one of the country’s most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations by Forbes and USA Today, Addison Oktoberfest features four days of family-oriented entertainment. German entertainers in authentic costumes perform traditional Bavarian folk dances, schuhplattling, oompah music, sing-a-longs, yodels and more. A special “Oktoberfest” Paulaner Bier is served along with several types of German sausage, sauerkraut, strudel, giant pretzels and more. There are carnival rides, midway games, children’s entertainment and activities and a 5K run and 1 mile fun run benefiting Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer. The Munich Evergreens from Germany return to headline the entertainment line-up, along with Grammy-award winning polka legends Brave Combo and dozens of authentic German entertainers. Guests can register to dine at the Chamberlain’s Brau Haus for a full service dining experience featuring an exclusive menu at www.addisonoktoberfest.com.
My favorite way to experience Oktoberfest is to make it a date night and have dinner with noted chef and restauranteur Richard Chamberlain who hosts Chamberlain’s Brau Haus, a full-service restaurant overlooking the Oktoberfest’s dance floor. Guests at Chamberlain’s Brau Haus can enjoy a three course meal, with each course paired with a Paulaner beer. This year's menu includes delicious dishes like Apple and Sage Cured Bavarian Ham with Port Wine, Onion and Kale Salad with Gewürztraminer and Dill Vinaigrette, Paulaner Braised Pork With Garlic, Potatoes, Onions and Caraway Trio of German Sausages House Made Sauerkraut, Pork Belly and Fennel Mustard Seed Sauce, and Warm Bavarian Cherry Strudel with Cherry Kirschwasser Sauce. Seating at Chamberlain’s Brau Haus is only $49.99 per person, and includes general adult admission, a commemorative stein and a $25 gift card to either Chamberlain’s Steak & Chop House or Chamberlain’s Fish Market Grill (Ensuring another great date night!) Seatings are available the following times: Thursday, September 17 – 6:30 & 8:30 p.m. Friday, September 18 – 6:30 & 8:30 p.m. Saturday, September 19 – 6 & 8 p.m.
